Who We Are
SNAC: Spay/Neuter Alliance & Clinic
is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing
high-volume, high-quality, low-cost spays and neuters to help stop pet
overpopulation. SNAC targets low-income pet owners and animal
welfare organizations.
Modeled after, and mentored by, the very successful Humane Alliance (www.humanealliance.org) spay neuter clinic in Asheville, NC. SNAC
provides
LOW-COST STERILIZATIONS and FREE TRANSPORTATION to a multi-county,
regional alliance of animal welfare organizations and pet owners in
South Carolina and Georgia.
The Humane Alliance sterilizes over 20,000 animals in over 20 counties
and has helped reduce euthanizations in its region by over 50%. SNAC
aims to help stop the overpopulation epidemic that results in up to 5
million euthanizations in U.S. shelters every year.
SNAC offers free round trip transport in the following ten counties
with hopes to expand that territory over time,
SC: Beaufort, Jasper,
Hampton, Colleton,
GA: Effingham, Evans, Chatham, Bryan, Bulloch, and
Liberty.
ALMOST 30,000 ANIMALS DIE YEARLY BY LETHAL INJECTION OR IN GAS CHAMBERS
IN SHELTERS IN THESE TEN COUNTIES, according to statistics gathered by
SNAC.
Research nationwide shows the only proven way to end the epidemic of pet
overpopulation and resulting euthanizations is via high-volume, low-cost
sterilization clinics. Low-volume, spay neuter clinics and programs
simply do not produce the numbers necessary to have adequate impact.
The numbers are proof enough. In just 7 years:
2 Dogs & Their Offspring = Over 40,000 Dogs
2 Cats & Their Offspring = Over 400,000 Cats
The nature of an epidemic is such that only when prevention is coupled
and balanced with treating the symptoms of the epidemic is successful
change made.
SNAC offers the high volume of surgeries necessary to help stop the
epidemic while freeing up animal shelters and rescue organizations to
focus their energies exclusively on rescuing, rehabilitating, and
re-homing animals in need.
A working alliance between animal welfare organizations and SNAC
enable all of us to succeed in the shared endeavor of putting a stop to pet
overpopulation.
